Team Lions PSN jsuess21
First everyone should know I played against the lions minus Calvin Johnson. He was injured so that changed his offensive gameplan.
Offense: the lions like to run the ball up the middle if you only have 3 defensive lineman. Slightly over half of his runs were up the middle. He ran a few counters and other outside runs to keep me honest. Since he didn't have calvin johnson he targeted his tight end the most.
His tight end would run different routes so I couldn't sit on one route. His tight end would usually but not always run one of two routes. a seam route and what looked like a very deep drag route over the middle. The tight end would run other routes to keep the defense guessing but those two are the ones I remember.
Slot wide receiver would usually run a route that also looked like a deep drag route. Again, not sure of the route's official name but the slot receiver would run a deep drag across the middle of the field. Receivers on the edge ran a go route or curl. I don't remember all of the routes his receivers ran because ea no longer allows us to look at the replays but these are the ones I do remember.
Once calvin johnson returns I'm sure he will have a different offensive gameplan.
Defense: If you come out in a running formation he will send the blitz. He controls the free safety. The lions owner runs different blitzes. He puts what looked like 8-9 people in the box. So it's not that easy to run the ball. Good mix of man or zone. About 50/50 of each. Tough goalline defense. He has good user skills when defending the run. My advice pass, pass, and pass some more against him. Be prepared for the blitz, he sent a few cornerback blitzes on me. I (the 49ers) got called for about 10 holding penalties in the game. 10 holding penalties. Man that's a record. It was holding penalty after holding penalty against me. So I was fortunate to have won this game. I got put in a lot of 1st and 20 situations or 2nd and 15 etc. because of the refs. Bring back the replacement refs because these madden refs hate my team.
It was a close game, not much scoring. It's nice playing against people in a sim league that ACTUALLY play sim. I've been in some other leagues where people who claim to be sim rushes zero, one or two defensive players on every single play. The youtube nanos that they try to sneak in thinking I will just think that it was just a fluke my quarterback got sacked 1 second after he received the snap. Then there's my favorite annoying tactic to hate. When my opponent runs around in circles on defense before I snap tha ball. As if he's drunk or something. This league is the first cheese free league I've been in.
